Before the Tan (1-2 days before)

PREPARING YOUR SKIN FOR YOUR SPRAY TAN

 

• Exfoliate and moisturize with a water based lotion the days leading up to your appointment, up to 24 hours before your tan.  Use oil-free products, paying particular attention to elbows, knees, ankles, feet and problem dry areas. Avoid Dove or Olay, bar soaps, high pH shower products or in-shower moisturizers. We recommend using a high quality exfoliating mitt (something like the ALOHA GLOW Deep Exfoliating Mitt or this one ) to evenly remove dead skin and old spray tan or sunless tan. This provides a fresh canvas for your tan to adhere to.  VERY IMPORTANT!

• Hair removal - wax or shave - at least 24-48 hours prior to treatment. This allows the pores time to close. Hair removal too close to your appointment may result in dotting in pores. Use a fresh razor, with 3-5 blades that does not have a moisture strip. One I recommend is this 3 blade razor with no moisture strip.

• If you’re planning to get a manicure and/or pedicure for your event, do this before your spray tan.

• For the entire 24 hours before your spray tan, avoid using bar soaps, high pH shower products, or oil based products. These products may act as a barrier against your skin and can prevent the tanning agents to develop.  Use ph balanced body wash.

• Shower the night before for morning appointments, or in the morning for evening tans. Please allow at least 4 hours between your last shower and appointment. Showering too close to your spray tan will alter your skins pH - which means the solution either won't stick to your skin or it will turn you an unnatural brassy color (the big "O"!).

• Be ready for your appointment with bare skin (i.e: no lotions, oils, deodorant, make up, perfumes, etc.)

• Please plan to wear loose-fitting, dark, long sleeve shirt and bottoms after your spray tan is complete. Even during summer, long sleeves help protect from accidental splashes, sweating, and skin on skin contact that will mess up your fresh glow.  Something like this works perfectly!

Day of Service

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR FIRST IN-STUDIO SPRAY TAN

​

• Please arrive 10 minutes early to your appointment and plan for unforeseen delays or traffic.

• Each appointment is approx 20 min, with the actual spray tanning session taking 10 min. New client sessions allow for pre-tan consults and questions. I am not in any rush and will take the time to answer all of your questions. 

• Please know that cleanliness and hygiene has always been top priority. Be assured enhanced cleaning practices are in place to mitigate any risks and make your appointment as safe as can be. I am COVID19 Barbicide Certified with an understanding of proper sanitation and disinfection practices consistent with the current highest industry standards​

• You will receive a consultation to determine the custom color blend to achieve your desired glow. New customers will complete a skin questionnaire, allergy info and waiver. A picture of the color you’re trying to achieve always helps!

• What to wear during your spray tan: WOMEN 18+ years old may tan in an old bathing suit, bra & underwear, topless or nude - it’s completely up to you what tan lines you’d like. Whatever you decide to wear will get a washable cosmetic bronzer on it, so wear dark color. We offer disposable women’s undergarments, upon request. MEN: Guys are required to wear undergarments, no exceptions.  Swim trunks, briefs, speedo, thong - the tan line is up to you. We require male clients to wear bottoms.

• We privately airbrush spray each individual with a custom blend of natural organic based solution by hand. I will guide you through the spray tan the entire time, letting you know when to lift your arms and turn around. Your actual airbrush session takes approx 7-10 minutes. 

• Once your airbrush session is complete, our technician will apply a luxurious shimmer drying powder to fully set your tan and make your skin dry to the touch.  Drying time: approximately 5 min.

• Put on your dark, loose fitting, long sleeved outfit. I suggest something like this.

• Do not make any plans for the next few hours while you are processing. Take this time to let your sunless glow set in.

• Forms of payment accepted are Cash (exact, no change provided at this time), Credit card, Zelle, or PayPal.

Immediately After Service

THE NEXT 24 HOURS

​

• We use a Rapid Rinse solution which MUST be showered off at the time advised during consultation. If you leave the Rapid Rinse on longer than recommended, the color will continue to deepen and may look unnatural for your skin type! We will set a timer on your phone to remind you to rinse.  Late evening appointments might opt for the Original Solution,  worn for 8+ hours/overnight. It will automatically stop processing so there is no fear of keeping it on too long. 

• Use the time your tan is processing to kick up your feet and RELAX! Do not get wet, sweat, work out, wash your hands, wear anything too tight and avoid skin-on-skin contact until after your first shower.

• Do not use any soaps or body wash during your first rinse - just shower in plain water until it rinses clear. Use your hand and gently rub off the bronzers. The brown bronzers WILL wash away, but don't worry! You will begin to see color in 8 hours while the sunless tan active ingredients continue to work & deepen for the next 24+ hrs. 

• Pat your skin dry with your towel while you have your spray tan. Do not rub.

• You will continue to develop for 24 hours after your appointment at which point you’ll have your full glow. To ensure you get the perfect result, I recommend wearing loose clothing - tight bras, shirts, pants, or shoes can cause lines, streaks, and indentations, if worn too soon, (important to plan your travel outfit if you’re going to the airport the next day!) Delay any activities that cause you to sweat like the gym or hot yoga, don’t soak in the pool or hot tub yet-  all these will affect your final result.

• Approximately 24 hours after your appointment, you can shower with  mild, sulfate free  body wash, use oil free moisturizer and tan extender to care for your fresh color.

Maintaining Your Tan

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR SUNLESS TAN - SPRAY TAN AFTER CARE

• Avoid products with mineral oils, alcohols, & heavy fragrances. They will strip your color and cause uneven fading. Spray perfume on your clothes, not your skin.

• Spray tan does NOT protect you from the sun! Use an oil-free sunblock and don't use the spray on sunscreens, as they contain alcohol that strips your tan.

• If you must shave, shave lightly with a bit of conditioner. Shaving cream (alcohol) removes spray tans!

• Starting day 2 or 3, begin to boost your sunless color by using our bronzer-tinted gradual tanner and clear facial bronzing mist. The professional formula keeps your color vibrant, and moisturized and extends the length of the tan.  Both are gentle enough to use on your face. This also helps the tan fade naturally, rather than in patches. Using an extender will give you the maximum life of your color!

• Expected results last approximately 5-10+ days. Individual results will vary.
